How I spent my new years eve…

Earlier in the day I tried to get through a couple events with Rocksmith on the Xbox that I  play with my old real electric guitar

but my nose wouldn’t quit running long enough to get through a single song so I snuggled up with box of

Did several shots of

Spent 12 hours with my peeps

While creating a new Sims3 Gallifrey…in my world the Doctor must use the loo and wash his hands

Got a midnight *kiss* via text from husband who was working at the time

it was a little early so he called me right after :)

Then I did something daring and switched to PBS and watched Hugh Laurie’s journey to his Great Performance in New Orleans

And capped off the evening with a final shot of Coldplay “LIVE” (meaning recorded in September) News Years Eve 2012 event on Austin City Limits. Mostly because I lost my remote in my blankets and was too achy to search for it but I enjoyed it all the same.

All in all, it was not a horrible NYE

I woke this morning feeling remarkably well and not even a little bit hung-over as Nyquil tends to make me feel.

I’m ready for 2012 and I hope every one of you has an amazing year.

tricialew asked: I just got my Doctor Who–The Brilliant Book 2012. The first thing I did was search the table of contents for all of the Neil Gaimany Goodness. It is all lovely! I remember an interview with Christopher Eccleston as he began his Doctor days and he said he’d be happy if he captured the 8-12 year old fans. He did better than that as did the writers. Did you have a target age group in mind when writing for Doctor Who or has it evolved beyond even needing to think of such things?

When I wrote my Doctor Who episode, I wanted to  write the kind of story  that would work if you were eight and work if you were sixty, even if it worked in different ways.

And that seemed important: that it be an episode for someone who had never see Doctor Who before and was watching it on a sofa with a parent reassuringly close, and that it would also be for someone like me who had grown up with Doctor Who, who remembered William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton when they were first broadcast.

Glad you liked The Brilliant Book. I love that I got to write my own little slice of Corsair fan-fiction in there, and it’s now sort-of true.

Sort-of true?!?  Yes!!!

These arrived yesterday which explains my absence on Tumblr as well as my failure at packing my suitcase and finishing the wedding programs and place-cards that have to fly with me. The Brilliant Book is so much fun and beautifully done. They’re both hardcover so they might be too bulky to take with me. Maybe just one of them.

It’s genetic. LOL!!  Instead of our gene pool getting diluted…it just gets stronger because the progeny keep mixing with more awesome. Congrats to you with all the book launches and surviving last week. You are effing awesome.

This is so good! How long did it take?!

Thank you. I’m gonna say it took about 4 hours because I sketched him in pencil and scanned it and emailed to myself to play with it on the iPad and then I lost myself for I don’t know how long. But to finish it, it took 3 episodes of Merlin.

I measure time by TV episodes. I think I may have a problem.

This is hilarious. He was looking up at himself and commenting. I could see this happening in real life. I wish he would come over and sit for my next life drawing of him.

You really are so gifted. This is eerily life-like.

Thanks. I was actually surprised when I stood back and looked. The brush strokes were so broad and rough up close (because I hit 400% zoom a lot of times).

Holy frick!!! You did that on your iPad???? Wow! This is amazing!!

Thanks. It’s gotten easier to do using some really great drawing apps for iPhone and iPad. Sketchbook Pro is a paid app (but Sketchbook Mobile I think is still free to try it out). The other is called Brushes. I haven’t gotten used to it yet but I love it so far. Also, I use the Wacom Bamboo Stylus which is better than any other that I’ve tried so far.

Every time I see one of these Atmos Energy trucks on the road….

I think of the Sontaran Stratagem….

Aaaannnd….I think it’s a gas company so that’s even sillier.
